Counted -Thread Emrbroidery is one of the traditional Turkish embroideries. Turkish women, as in
other embroideries, embroider their joys, happiness, sorrows and what they see
around them while doing. Counted -Thread Emrbroidery , with rich and detailed embroidery techniques
is processed on fabrics threads of which can be counted. The embroidery
that the Turkish women do by counting the threads of the fabric one by one is the biggest indicator of their patience. Turkish women and girls felt the need to
embroider their dowry, clothes and belongings by following their traditions. They created works of art by combining color, motif, and technique with a refined taste.
The three main motifs used in Turkish works are; flowers, fruits, and trees.
Tulip, carnation, rose, wild rose, hyacinth, crocus, water lily, jasmine, tent
flower, wheel of fortune, lily, peach flower and pomegranate flowers are other
motifs. As well as tree leaves, mostly flowers such as roses, tulips, hyacinths
were used in the motifs during the Ottoman and Seljuk periods. In the embroidery
made in the 16th and 17th centuries, the sycamore leaf was usually a sign on its own used as an ornamental motif. In the 18th century, roses decorated with leaves,
cypress and pine trees are visible. “Counted -Thread Emrbroidery ” is similar to cross-stitch. However,
the hesap isi is not processed in the form of crosses like cross-stitch. Flower
patterns, bird and ivy patterns are the most frequently processed patterns
with Counted -Thread Emrbroidery .
