The production of the Diyarbakir 'Wicker' bracelet, which has thousands of years of history, requires a painstaking and delicate effort. Bracelet making begins with the preparation of gold or silver wires with a thickness of 85, 95, or 100 microns upon request. Then they are wrapped on a gold or silver wire mandrel in a rectangular shape and cut. As a result, rectangular rings with one end cut off formed. These parts are then intertwined, and the open ends are joined by welding, the threads are bent with pliers and hammered on the anvil. The bracelet is rewound on the mandrel to form a bracelet form. After this process, the lock part is decorated with a chisel pen work. The motif in this key part, which connects the two ends of the wicker bracelet and is called eyebrow in the region, is one of the distinguishing features of the bracelet. The eyebrow motif on the key symbolizes the rising sun. The Diyarbakir wicker, which consists of jewelry sets, necklaces, and bracelets, made by melting bullion and scrap gold and turned into wire, which is shown as one of the handicrafts produced without using any present technology in the jewelry profession,

Craftsmen, who produce wicker in a few workshops throughout the city, brag that the life of wicker bracelets is over 40 years longer than other types of gold jewelry. History shows that since the first settlements, Diyarbakir community have always showed interest in wearing such fine jewelry which resulted in development of the craft, the refinement of the craftsmanship, the diversification of products, and the city to be mentioned with quality and workmanship.
